Awaz Aziz Kadro is a Syrian-Canadian visual artist based in Pickering.
Trained in both Electrical Engineering and Fine Arts, he graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Aleppo before continuing his artistic journey across Syria, Turkey, Germany, and now Canada. His works have been exhibited internationally and recognized by institutions, including the Dutch Embassy and Aleppo Nights Festival.
Working primarily in oil on canvas, Kadro creates abstract works that merge philosophy, history, and human experience. His ongoing series ” Determinisms” reflects his belief that nature is not only alive but also a thinking entity, inviting audiences to contemplate destiny, freedom, and imagination.
My art begins with a question: What if nature thinks?
Through oil on canvas, I seek to transform intangible concepts such as destiny, freedom, and imagination into visual experiences.
My current series, Determinisms, reflects my belief that nature is a living, thinking entity. Each painting becomes a dialogue between what is seen and what is felt, between philosophy and abstraction.
For me, painting is not simply about representation; it is about creating a space where ideas take on form and invite viewers into reflection and emotional connection.
