Ana Carolina Hurant is an Encaustic artist based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Largely self-taught, she creates mixed-media works that feel like fragments recovered from memory. Working with cyanotype, encaustic wax, photography, and botanicals, she builds luminous surfaces where faces, flowers, landscapes, and traces of the body emerge and recede. Her work explores preservation, tenderness, ancestry, absence, and the shifting nature of personal memory.

Hurant has presented solo exhibitions including Fragments in Blue at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, Botanicals in Print at Balance Point Acupuncture & Wellness in Chapel Hill, and Reclaimed: A Heritage at Fusion Gallery & Classes in Durham. Her work has also been shown in juried and group exhibitions with the Durham Art Guild and the Hillsborough Arts Council, and she was a 2026 Artist Support Grant recipient from the Professional Women of Chatham & Orange Counties. In addition to her studio practice, Hurant teaches encaustic, botanical sketching, cyanotype, and printmaking workshops throughout central North Carolina. Her work is held in collections at Balance Point Acupuncture & Wellness and Fusion Gallery & Classes, as well as in private collections in Nebraska, Florida, and Lima, Peru. She lives in Chapel Hill with her husband and three boys.
